The Tips in Psychoanalysis
a clinical case of a hidden gift
Abstract
The author of the article analyzes the meaning of money in psychoanalysis and gives as an example a psychoanalytic vignette from his clinical practice, the case of a patient who tried to leave money for a tip to her psychoanalyst. They become an unsymbolized fragment of the real, an object a that intrudes into the transference. To analyze this case, the author uses the Kleinian and Lacanian approaches.
