Abstract

This paper presents a systematic review of the role of psychoanalysts working with children in multi-professional health institutions. The following databases were searched: Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, SCIELO and Google Scholar. As a result 15 references were obtained. Two themes are discussed: history and politics of child mental healthcare in Brazil, and psychoanalysis with children in institutions. Childcare institutions are historically permeated by universalizing and normative discourses, which makes it difficult to value singularity. The psychoanalyst must challenge these discourses, aiming at the child subjectivity in his/her relation to desire, offering a place to the singular constructions of each one.
