Abstract

Our study was based on fact that most of children and adolescents available for adoption are excluded from the opportunity to be adopted, because of the profile required by applicant parents, in which disability is not expected. We analyzed the information provided in the reports of the Brazilian National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the bibliographic review showed that the preference of the adopters is disproportionate to the reality of institutionalized children. The psychoanalytic consideration indicates that the desability due to compose the phenomenon of the strange (unheimlich) moves their primitive fantasies on applicant parents.
